A moon br the colour of sorrow. br br Rain falling br like regret. br br The memory br of your beauty br br awakened by br the music br br tiptoes on moonlit feet br br slowly silently br br across the lawn. br br A cat br br (immune to human emotion) br br yawns br br silhouetted against br an Autumn moon. br br He listens br to our human words br br more out of boredom br than anything else br br as if we were characters br in a play br br enacting words that will be br forever spoken: br br “Let us be sharing wing birds br br ...the thing of legend... br br with only one eye br only one wing br br only by sharing wings br can we fly! ” br br Chiselled into br a night gone by br br the words remain br engraved upon the air. br br The cat wonders br how do humans do that br br ...& why? br br He pads quietly br through the words br br the memory of us br bristling his fur.
