Maria Rose - The Eternal Saboteur: A Poem On Alfred Hitchcock

I am an anonymous lodger. br There is a corpse in my cupboard br With withered lips br And a ring in its frozen finger. br The now useless ring on its stiff fingers br is still a puzzle. br I can see a gloomy staircase br leading to a bell tower. br Whatever be the number of the steps to the top, br the fear of fall is a truth. br Don’t fall in love. br br * * * * * * br His presence is obvious. br His unexpected cameos startle me. br I feel the threat of a deadly rope br In my neckscape. br Sure, I am one who knew too much. br He desires my silence. br Ghouls of my sabotaged dreams br Frightens me to death. br The vision from my rear window br opens to the horror of violent birds br That kept circling in the psyche. br The sound of their wings steals my sleep. br br * * * * * * br An ominous day opened my ears br To a fatal dial tone br That pursued me ad infinitum. br I must flee. br Any moment He will dial the number I dreaded. br I am afraid of trains. br There will be strangers on trains br On your trail, He tells me br br * * * * * br The frenzy of my flight is sure to ungrave br My stage fright, despite all rehearsals, I know. br Que Sera Sera. br Future’s not ours to see. br Sure, God is the bulky guy br Who carries a bird on the tip of his cigar, br The eternal saboteur. br br br **Inspired from Alfred Hitchcock and his films.
