I took
a fascinated step
too nearer
the pond
grabbed me by the foot &
sucked me
ever nearer to itself
chuckled in ripples
spoke with the voice of mud:
“Mmmm...little boys
I love little boys who don’t do as they are told! ”
It tried to
pull me down
but I turned around
kicked it in the face
and scared...escaped.
