Just think how much easier br Life would be... br If life was an open book br br There'd be no more guessing br Along the way br Trying to figure...go or stay? br Do or not? br Sink...or swim? br It wouldn't much matter... br The text would say br br The script of life would clearly be br Written on pages...meant to see br The characters portrayed br Would be carefully chosen br Based upon need at the time br br The plot would develop br Page after page... br Year after year... br With sub-plots... br Scattered throughout br br Life would be simpler then... br If life was an open book br br Each book would be different though br And some...might intermingle br But no two books would br Read the same throughout... br br Some books would be longer br And perhaps...a little dry br While others with a real great plot br Would seem to surely fly br br Of course... br We would have our favorites br That we're unable to put down br We would read them with great gusto br And feel loss once they are done br br And what of my book... br The reader might ask... br Will it be long... br Or sadly shortened? br Will it be of epic form br Or short story proportion? br br Will my book become a best seller br To anyone but me? br And if it does... br Who will read it.. br And will they see the real me? br br If my life was an open book br The mask could slowly lower br Secrets...fear...and trepidation... br Would surely then be over... br br But it's not an open book... br And so...I live within a wall br A fence so sturdy round my fort br That it will likely...
