Ah, to lounge on a tin roof porch br As a slow, cool summer rain br Washes away the gathered dust br That seems to cover everything br The garden plants have wilted br From the stifling, summers heat br But, they all begin to liven up br As their roots, the raindrops reach br As the rain descends from heaven br And meets the roof of tin br Its rhythm soothes and comforts br With its slow hypnotic din br Like water slowly trickling br Down a creek bed over stones br The raindrops on the roof br Induce a soft euphoric tone br And then, one’s mind may wander br To another place and time br And as the rain continues falling br The earth is nourished and revived br br Copyright C R Clark 3192008br br C R Clarkbr br
