I found the English language fascinating br Without the knowledge, my confidence breaking, br br Discovered a centre whose banners shout br Like the fishing lines catching trout, br br Pronounce the Lingo, in just months three br Transformed soon into a humming English bee, br br My sincere trust commenced the course br Books, Audio visuals provided the source, br br My learning site was already so stuffed br The nerves and brain cannot be easily bluffed, br br My mother tongue interfered, stubbornly every time br The irate teacher resented my innocent crime, br br So many rules of stress and syllables do break br In every new word, a new sound they intake. br br Tongue twisters, nasal sound format combine br The vowels, consonants, diphthongs ally behind. br br My native phoneme perceived in every sound br Transfer me to Britain, it will still be seen around, br br My brain cells fought a battle royal br As for freedom our countrymen had toiled, br br No encroachment would ever be acceptable br Declaration signed, pledges made perceptible, br br The broken pieces could not remain firm br I stammered till the expiry of my term, br br The road to intonation could not be tread br My teacher learned my mother-tongue instead. br br The linguist, phoneticians looked insane br Became multilingual, an incredible bargain, br br Why so much hullabaloo about a foreign tongue br In the honor of my mother I can still praises sung.
