“This book belongs to Carol G” br Who lent it, with some hope, to me br In order that I might perceive br The visions which she must believe br Of Life and World, and all that stuff br Which I have missed in times so tough br That Godly thoughts have always faded br To strand me with a mind so jaded br That all the words and pious rant br Will leave me – just - a soul extant; br But with no sense of heaven miss’d br Because I’m such an Atheist. br br But Joy I’ve seen and had my fill br (Despite no God - but happy still) . br And many times I’ve felt the shove br Of happy times and life and love br That pushed me to a higher plane br And left me with a sense of gain. br I’ve been “surprised” – I’ve been amazed br At life and thoughts and actions praised br Or cursed or punished for their style br When trying to make the extra mile; br To squeeze from life the final dropp - br But got caught out and made to stop br br …..just like this…….
