I sit here reading the letter br as my tears smudge the ink. br I can’t hold them back br no more than I could br hold back the years. br The words say you have left me br that you’ve moved out today. br That you won’t be coming back br no matter what I say. br br I sit with my head bowed br remembering good time we had. br Remembering the sorrow and sadness br that followed in the good times wake. br Remembering those precious moments, br we wanted to last forever, br but disappeared at the blink of an eye. br I can’t hold back the years br nor the tears I cry. br br Tomorrow heralds a brand new day, br a brand new start some would say. br When we should erase yesterdays br and start a new life, br but it isn’t that easy, br as we need our yesterdays br to build that new day. br If we haven’t got them, br what will happen is hard to say. br br As I sit here and read your letter br my tears still fall, br and I can’t hold back the years br no more than I can hold back the tears br for our lost yesterdays.
