Upon the sea I drift br Far long I have br Swaying, and swaying br Tossed and turned br Barely afloat br For I have no boat br I cling to driftwood br To prevent my despair br I hold it closely with care br Yet it doesn't do all br Because I am tall br Waves crash br I cling dear br Holding tight br With all my might br But the angry waves br Pull all my strength br And the driftwood goes br In fear I swim for dear life br Not thinking about else br Then I see more driftwood br I cling close br Barely afloat br Thinking to be secure br I was sure br The sea raged br My driftwood departed br Driftwood after driftwood br I clung so close br But it fails to keep me afloat br Then one day I lost my hope br And let go... br When the sea raged once more br I was slowly sinking br Almost swallowing myself whole br Then to my eye br A lifeboat coming near br Then with might br I fought the sea br Swam onward with faith br Climbed upon it did I br The sea calmed br Thankful for my sparing br It held me up br Never to almost sink br Safe, safe no fear br No more driftwood to cling to br Then I followed the bright beacon home....
