Howard Johnson - Empty Chairs

Howard Johnson - Empty Chairs

A large willow tree br Still budding br With small leaves br Taking in warmth br and the suns rays br br Set back from the br Well traveled street br Narrow lane br leading to br A enchanted white house br br Generously shaded br By that starting br Willow tree br br Away from it all br Noise and fury br br A table mostly white br Its age is shown br By the bleeding rust br br Its companions br Too similar chairs br The severity of winter br has left its punishing touch br br Their forms br rugged and sound br Years of resting br On that paved brick ground br br On the top br A cloth br Of colors br Filled with streaking br Lavander, Crimson and white br br On that cloth br For my thirst br A glass dew dripped, br Filled with ice and lemonade br br In this beauty br there I sit br With an empty seat br Enjoying the gentleness br Of this place.
