ANDREW BLAKEMORE - The Chestnut Trees Of May

ANDREW BLAKEMORE - The Chestnut Trees Of May

Now spring has blessed this waiting land br I look upon the village Croft, br And see the chestnut trees of May br With blossom flowers of white, br Row on row they proudly stand br Adorned in all their majesty, br And all the glories of the earth br Could make no better sight. br br The scent of new mown grass does float br Upon the early morning breeze, br As I now make my way across br This vast and shadowed field, br I rest upon a wooden bench br And all-alone I calmly sit, br To take in all the beauty there br The season now does yield. br br While birds do sing in dulcet tone br Within the might blossomed boughs, br I listen to each song of joy br That fills the sapphire sky, br Amid the chestnut trees of May br I find a peace that does surround, br As there I dwell a little while br And watch the day go by.
