THE POEM IS A METAPHOR br br The Poem is a Metaphor br It means ‘the world’ br It means ‘all that there is’ br It means ‘the soul’ br It means ‘our deepest feeling’. br br The Poem is a Metaphor br It is more than what it just appears to be br It takes on a life of its own br It says more than it can define itself as br br The Poem is a Metaphor br And it itself does not understand br Where it began and how it will end br And whether or not br It should always be rewritten. br br The Poem is a Metaphor br And we too are metaphors br That will vanish one day br When all the real Poems br Pretend to still be here.
