sathya narayana - HOPELESS PINES

sathya narayana - HOPELESS PINES

When a pine is felled in the forest br What can the other pines do, but rue br Helplessly rooted to their spots br They rattle their boughs in scared demur br Rock their trunks as if trying to uproot br All in vain, it is but the nature’s rule br To stand desolate amongst piling ruins br Waiting in silence for their turn br br But in what way is a common man br Better than the immovable pine br Walking, talking, eating and sleeping br Yet a vegetable enduring br Domineering Machiavellians br Living like a forlorn human pine br Without a fight, bending his spine br Yielding down to ruthless exploitation br br .
