So many times her heart had been broken, br The will to live was fading fast. br Reasons to smile somehow eluded her, br Thoughts of death had arrived at last. br br Often she would cry in utter despair, br As into her pit she would run; br Concluding that her life was now worthless, br She felt the cold steel of a gun. br br Love, true love was all she ever wanted, br Someone to stand by to her side; br But, neglect was what she had been given, br As love from her just seemed to hide. br br In one final plea of desperation, br She said a prayer to God once more; br Then just as she squeezed on the cold trigger, br There came a knock at the front door. br br “Hello, are you home, ” the tender voice called, br “Just came by to see you today.” br Putting the gun down, she answered; “I’m here, br What brings you so out of your way? ” br br br “I was almost home when I sensed the need br To dropp by, ” the voice sweetly said. br “It may seem somewhat strange, ” she continued, br I couldn’t get you out my head.” br br She said; “Please know you mean a lot to me, br And I wanted to tell you so, br I hope that you and I can be true friends, br And I really do love you so.” br br They embraced for what seemed eternity, br As the sweet tears streamed from their eyes, br She said; “Friend, an angel must have sent you, br For today I had planned to die.” br br But then you showed up miraculously br and saved me from my pit of gloom! br My friend, thank God that you heeded His voice br and came not a moment too soon.br br Loyd C.
