When I was a kid I wanted a pet br So I thunk and I thunk and I thunk br Until one day I finally wet out br And I caught me some skunks br br They was just little babies br Their mom was dead on the road br She could no longer feed them br For she was flatter than a toad br br So I took them home br And fed them some milk br And their little hair br Was just as smooth as silk br br I put them in a bucket br Covered them with a towel br Then I went to bed br The adventure started now br br The next morning I get up br My brothers shirt was hangin on the chair br All soaked with skunk pee br For he had dared to venture there br br He gave me a cussin br Like I aint never heard br I told him they was just babies br And was as harmless as a bird br br I raised them boys br For a good many years br I named them blacky and sam br And they brought me many cheers br br I have caught many grown ones br And yet to get sprayed on br But my older brother paul br They sprinkled him like the lawn br br I always picked them up br Much like a dog or cat br And they would rub and lick br Like they was telling me they loved me back br br I never had a cold br When I had my skunks either br And I was always outside br No matter what the weather br br Some say I'm crazy br Because I like the smell of skunks br But it's just a nature smell br At least that's what I thunk br br I've had all kinds of wild pets br From geese to fox to possum to coon br I even have pics of a badger thing br And I once caught a loon br br My favorite pets consist of br mink, geese, flying squirrels br skunks pigeons, doves and coon br groundhog, and fox squirrels br br br wrote from past memories br br wrote 7212008 by Norman Hale Jr.
