Janice Windle - (For Dónall) At last, the Man I Had Not Met

His chin, br cleft with Y-shaped hollow br like the subtle dent br where buttocks meet with spine. br br His mouth, mobile, br made for words as well as kisses. br Lips, asymmetric, tell of humour, br kindly irony and playful thought. br A mouth on which to graze br in the still night br and the lazy morning br as he will feast on mine. br br Nose, proudly aquiline. br Nostrils that can snuff the wind br like any stallion. Eyes br alight with understanding, br seeing who I am, br catching fire from my hot ashes, br seeing in me his ideal, br knowing that he’s mine. br br This poem is a companion to 'The Man I Haven't Met' which I wrote six months ago. I've revised it a bit to fit the reality of the man I've met and love, but I've had to make remarkably few changes to the original....
