Colin Ian Jeffery - VICARAGE GARDEN

Colin Ian Jeffery - VICARAGE GARDEN

In the vicarage garden on a bench br The frail old vicar sits in an autumn breeze br Overcoat, scarf, hat and gloves against the cold br Pondering on the gifts which God bestowed. br br Gifts of wife, children, friends and neighbours br He gives thanks for his wondrous life br Giving service to others without complaint br Working in his Lord's vineyard harvesting souls. br br He feels a pain in his chest that quickly passes br And his life like sunlight at dusk begins to fade br Then from the shadows step two familiar figures br His cherished parents long since passed onto Heaven. br br They smile and hold out their hands to him br " Time for you to come, my son, " says his father br And gently they take the old vicar by the hand br Leading him forth towards a bright dazzling light.
