ANDREW BLAKEMORE - Within This Old Park

ANDREW BLAKEMORE - Within This Old Park

Within this old park br On the housing estate br The fun as a child that I had, br Waking the memories br Of times I'd forgotten br The times I was happy and glad. br br It all looks familiar br Although things have changed br The picture is almost the same, br The trees have all grown br And the flats have all gone br Yet this is the place where I came. br br As sunlight does shine br Over dark terraced rooftops br The silhouette shapes that I see, br The slide and the swings br And the see-saw beyond br That now is as still as can be. br br Once there was laughter br And smiles in the sunshine br Here in the days long before, br Now hushed are the voices br The park so deserted br Where children don't play anymore.
