David Keig - This Prospect Seems Quite Heavenly

David Keig - This Prospect Seems Quite Heavenly

I chanced upon a thought today br A thought that would not go away br What if heaven's like here on earth? br More like a parallel universe? br So, people live in houses there br And go to work and comb their hair br And sleep at night and make love too br And eat and drink, go to the loo br A heaven marked by being mundane br And then i had that thought again br We're just on earth for life's extent br In heaven no end's imminent br Alive for ever in the clouds br But would we all be wearing shrouds? br I somehow think not for i'd guess br We'd all be doing what we do best br So deceased tailors would make clothes br And gardeners still gardens grow br Accountants would still cook the books br And chefs would be eternal cooks br But wait! i see some contradiction br Apparent even in this fiction br Someone just dead would rub their shoulders br With others who would be much older br Imagine if this came to pass br Newton could meet Pythagoras br Krushchev could lecture Kant and Hegel br While Ben Gurion just fed them bagels br Bach could learn to play the blues br Beethoven could wear blue suede shoes br Henry Ford could meet Ferrari br At Andy Warhol's dinner parties br Da Vinci could meet Wittgenstein br And discuss theories with Einstein br The kings the queens the good and evil br Would all be mixed up at that table br A final thought then came to me br This prospect seems quite heavenly.
