Rani Turton - Captivity

Rani Turton - Captivity

Dried roses, crumbling into dust br All beliefs, convictions and trust br All I have to show for years of believing br Is tracks and traces of dust br br Sifted by the wind and rain br Grains of sand fly here and there br Why is it here and now, a single cell br Transfixed, is unable to go anywhere br br Much vaunted intellectual autonomy br The roots of epistemology br Senses spin in scented darkness, and br Wait, transfixed like those grains of sand. br br Captive to thoughts and inspiration br Distanced by wild pointless aspiration br Waiting for the breeze to come and scatter br My life's blood, my life's matter.
