Kathleen West - Words to Mom When I Was a Teen

I wish I could let you know, Mom br How much you mean to me br But words can't even begin to br Make you really see br br How much I really love you, Mom br How much I hold you dear br And I won't even think about br Life without you here br br Ours is a hard relationship br But no matter how odd br There's respect, caring, and loyalty br And love, given to us by God br br And as I'm writing this poem, Mom br The tears stream down my face br And I think about our past, Mom br And words I can't erase br br But even though the scars stay put br They can heal over, with the years br And we can grow together, once again br And wipe away our tears br br The sadness that you feel, Mom br It's not right, it's not good br Cause there's no one like you, Mom br I wish you understood br br You feel you don't accomplish things br But it really seems to me br That what you do for others br Are things that you can't see br br Do you look at understanding? br Can kindness and caring be measured? br And all the things that mean so much br Can they be added up and treasured? br br No, life is a test not written down br And the scores cannot be seen br But that doesn't make it less important br For to God, what do accomplishments mean?br br Kathleen Westbr br
