Lee Crowell - god poem

Ra the Egyptian sun god battles darkness every night br and returns every morning with another day in his arms br thankfully for us he is batting one thousand br at the mercy of Ra's efforts I lie awake br sweating what lies ahead br br destined to be judged by Allah br my friend built a house of stones he pulled from the stream br when his wife cheated br with a well aimed gun he killed her cat br he now lives alone waiting for his moment br and his little beauty stands unfinished br but nicely liveable br br br on mount Olympus Zeus cut off his father's head, br married his mother, br and claimed command over everything br br the Chinese god Yu-huang spent two hundred and twelve million years br to become the Jade emperor br br Moses climbed mount Sinai br and received commandments from god br I met my landlord at Wendy's br to avoid eviction from a nightmare dream br br our father so loved the world br he gave us Jesus br and we now have christians br and people who seem like christians br ask us to donate on a regular basis br and then they ask for more br br as a boy Lord Krishna defeated demons br sent by his uncle the king br today the pool hall hustlers will swarm br and lead me to think I am winning br and the joy will blind me br while they fleece me of my possessions br br if you believe anything br you're certainly not alone br and when you dare to guess what's in my hand br I won't need magic br to empty my pockets for your prizebr br Lee Crowellbr br
