Mamta Agarwal - & As the Monsoon Recedes

Mamta Agarwal - & As the Monsoon Recedes

Besides the heady fragrance br Of the wet earth, br Freashly bathed green trees, br (Evoking images of a damsel br stroking her wet tresses) br Garden weeds, br And the sound of the rain br Music to my ears, after br Scorching summer, br Dust storms and hot winds. br br I loved the br Croaking of the frogs. br After dusk fall br Twinkling fireflies. br The call of the Cicadas, br Although a bit br Eerie at night. br br I would exclaim br Monsoon brings br Wild life br Full of sounds br And pleasing sights, br Though the family br didn't share my delight br br Now, as the br Monsoon recedes br I realise, those sounds br Had long since died, br Couldn’t survive and adapt br To polluted environment. br Victims of br thoughtless human activity.
