Now winter nights grow long. br Full to the brim with blustery hours, br And clouds their lightning discharge br Upon the office towers. br And rain does now and again, br Dimple the sandy plage br Let now the fires blaze, br And cups over flow with wine; br Let our well-tuned poetry amaze br With harmony divine. br Then yellow waxen street so bright br Shall shine on honeyed love, br While love revealed, in the fire light br Comforts and bequites br Sleep’s leaden spells shall not remove.
