Stephanie Dower - Duck Pond

Stephanie Dower - Duck Pond

I just got relaxed when she tugged at my sleeve. br 'Mamma, mamma, when can we leave? ' br With hopeful eyes that seemed to shout, br 'Mamma, mamma, when can we go out? ' br So we got in the car and started to drive. br To the pond in the woods where the ducks thrive. br My little girl, she loves those birds, br I can tell by her face she is lost for words. br Her sweet little face all scrunched with joy. br Why can't she be happy with a teddy or a toy? br The ducks came round and started to quack. br It was then I realised why we had to go back. br My girl hadn't realised and giggled like mad. br I bit my lip, if I told her now she'd be really sad. br In a panic I thought of an excuse in my head.
