While drawing a multi hued Rangoli, br Tying a string of sacred Marigolds and mango leaves br At my door, to welcome the Goddess of prosperity, br br Lakshmi, I pray for a wealth of different kind: br I want compassion and peace of mind br And eyes that don’t pretend to be blind. br br Please light my path all the way, br Give me courage to not go astray br From my chosen path today. br br As I mindfully walk to light each wick br with awareness striking a match stick, br Dressed in my finery and ethnic br br Wear, I bow with reverence at the altar and pray br Seeking blessings of merciful Lord Ganesh, br To help me overcome challenges on my way. br br So that each lamp that I thus light br Expands my heart and help me gain insight br Into my hapless suffering brethrens plight, br br And my heart and soul so ignite… br Hope, one day auspicious festival of lights br Wll light up every home on Diwali night.
