Alison Cassidy - Tiger Moth

Alison Cassidy - Tiger Moth

I wasn’t sure at first br how you’d enjoy it, br but I knew you liked adventure, br so I booked br and kept my fingers crossed. br br The tiger moth stood to immaculate attention, br a giant insect marooned on a grassy sea. br Smaller than I had imagined her br and lighter too, br with silver fabric wings br and a lone propeller br balanced on her nose. br br She might have been left over br from a Forties film set, br or a toy abandoned by a spoiled child. br br You donned the flying jacket br they offered br and stepped br (with surprising agility) br into the forward cockpit. br br Then belted, capped and goggled br you awaited the ‘contact’ command br and a firm hand upon the propeller. br br I shielded my eyes br as the ancient bi-plane rose into the air, br pirouetting amongst the clouds br and looping the loop with terrifying grace. br br Your face was pink and pleased br when you alighted. br br ‘It was fabulous’ you said - br and meant it.
