Linda Winchell - 'Cookies In A Jar'

My Mom always baked great cookies br and when she placed them in that old cookie jar. br I'd sit and count them as she dropped them in br and to see just what kind they are. br br Sometimes there would be chocolate chip br then she would make those raisin oatmeal ones. br Mom sometimes let me lick the bowl and spoon br when all her cookie making stuff was done. br br I'd sit up at the table br perched like some proud large bird! br And all I think anyone could tell br was the Yummy noises that they heard. br br I made sure I got every crumb of dough! br And then looked for the spoon and beaters! br Didn't want to leave anything out br I was the biggest of this families cookie eaters! br br Then right after super was done br only if I cleaned my plate, you see. br Mom would let me take a cookie br from that old cookie jar, for me! br br Now I've grown and have a child br and when I make Mom's favorite cookie recipes. br I let my daughter lick the bowl and spoon and beaters br and dig in that same old cookie jar like me.
