As I kept my nightly vigil br On the cliff's rocky edge tonight br As the waves crashed below me br By the twinkling of starlight br I looked up into the cool night sky br Towards that silvery light br Casting a magical shadow br Turning dark waters bright br br Upon the glistening waters br Unto the foaming shore br Shining like a beacon br Inspiring songs and lore br And as the light of stars br Guides sailors to their doors br The moon reflects steadily br Onto the watery floor br br And as I begin to walk away br From my tryst upon the edge br I turn quickly back again br And stand wondering at the ledge br Towards the mystic beauty br In that silver wedge br Now full and ripely beautiful br Shimmering before my rocky edge.br br Josephine J.
