There are these steps br which rule my life; br I look behind br and see them: br pathways I've taken, br impressions here and there br from the baby ones br to my teens br all there in the sand br trailing behind me. br br I've stepped up to challenges; br my first apartment br my first home br career and children br all steps along my way; br br I see the future ones br arrayed in front of me br marker points to strive for. br br Sadly too br I have known br the 12 steps br of sister who br needed these. br br I have known the 12 pillars of light; br stairways to heaven; br the two-step dancing br and step-ford wives. br br I've looked behind br and at times, br there was only one set of tracks; br my walking alone. br br There have been big steps br and little steps br none greater than br the one br I took br stepping up to you br who awaited me br at the stair case height br taking my arm br to ascend br to the preacher standing there- br the biggest, br happiest, br most wonderfullest br step br I have ever taken br in my life. br br Thanks Dear br for walking with me br for all these years.
