Dr Kamran Haider Bukhari - POETRY IS DEAD

Is this the end? br Is this the death? br Death has not always been an end br It may be a new beginning br It could have been a funeral br But it has to be the matrimonial br Of lust and hunger br Alas! Poetry is dead br br She died last night br Of cerebral malaria br In the febrile fits br Of plagued identity br In the rigors and chills br Of seasonal insanity br In the aches and pains br Of bodily desires br Poetry died br Silently, invisibly br In the blast br Of this materialized world br br Before sleeping in the robust arms br Of Dark Angel br She painfully uttered br A dying declaration br In her last muffled breaths br br “I, the Cinderella of all Arts br Has had been mishandled br By the guardians and the messengers br They ignored the ‘FRAGILE’ sign br While shipping me from heart to heart br Mind to mind and soul to soul br I was broken into pieces br Even safeguarded br Inside the velvety red box br Wrapped with the white sheets br Of hundred percent pure cotton br Sealed with the melted wax br Of my frozen tears br Each piece of mine br Would live thereafter me br Eternally as a divine soul br In the juvenile bodies br Of so called amateurs br Who worshipped me since born br Like a goddess…” br br Alas! Poetry is dead br br br Dec 20,2008br br Dr Kamran Haider Bukharibr br
