Lonnie Hicks - The She in Me

Lonnie Hicks - The She in Me

She said wearily br 'I am trapped br in the Chain of Desperation br trying to break free; br my mother passed it along br to me, br and her mother to her and on br down to me. br br One destroyed soul br seeks its own repair br but only partial healing br is possible for most of us. br br And as luck would have it br we fail more times than we succeed; br sometimes consoling ourselves br with the belief br 'at least I am better than She.' br br But we are shocked to see br perhaps, br that not as true br as we believe br when we see it in our children. br br My moment of truth in my parenting br is when we see br in my child's br traits br that can br and could br only have come br from me. br br No denying it. br What to do? br br Realize or confess its true br or reject the Me br I see in the child br I alone reared? br br Rejection is the first step br in keeping the chain intact. br so the br Chain of Pain br grows br and expands. br br My vow br by the time she is br eight br is to stop br the Chain in its tracks br by overcoming the Me in Her br with the sheer br force br of br my br love.
