Respect is what you earn not command br That is something some find hard to understand br You earn respect if respect you do show br From people in your life you've come to know br br Of Respect or lack of we do read of and hear br Though 'tis a thing that cannot be born of fear br Of somebody who has power over you br In your feigned respect your feelings are not true. br br Many may respect and admire the high achievers of the town br And applaud them on their journey to renown br But with the many some do disagree br Through different eyes we see things differently. br br Respect is something you can only show br For one that you feel privileged for to know br And of any shackles true respect is free br That's how it is and that's how 'twill always be.
