Linda Winchell - 'Corners'

Linda Winchell - 'Corners'

Corners rounded edges smoothed br splinters all sanded down. br Stain and varnish to make it shine br The best of wood making in all the town. br br Shave a tad more off the edges br Maybe an extra coat of paint or two? br Just like to keep things rounded and tidy br And have you see the best that I can do. br br I am the town's only carpenter br I had learned this trade long ago. br From a man by the name of, 'Jesus' br He was the best carpenter I'd ever known. br br He taught me how to shave and round br And smooth the edges off of my life. br And to place those extra touches needed br With the skill of His sharpened carpenter's knife. br br To plane down the tone in my voice br To sand the rough edges off myself. br He showed me that my sin's are forgiven me br And need'nt be placed on some dusty wooden shelf. br br His craft was like no other ever seen br He was skilled in every single way. br And I will practice all of His wood working taught br And pass this on to my son's this way. br br But for now I must complete rounding off my corners br Taking time to handle them with gentle care. br And always know that my carpenter Jesus br Has forgiven me, of my roughness that I sometimes wear.
