Evelyn Macdonald - Rain

Evelyn Macdonald - Rain

Rain batters on my window pane br collects in puddles deep br and like the ticking of a clock br it lulls me back to sleep br br The heavy constant rhythm br is like music to my ear br the drumbeat repetition br of the rain is all I hear br br Silence for a moment means br the wind has changed its course br rain soon comes a-knocking br on the glass with gale-like force br br The rain is strangely soothing br as it cascades through the night br washing the sins of daytime br as darkness turns to light br br I wake to early morning br refreshed by summer rain br the ground is soft and silent br till it starts to rain again br br So as it was the night before br it pours from Heavens high br I trace the rivulets of the rain br that fall to earth from sky br br Content to marvel on the scene br Allow me to exclaim br the world would have no rainbows br if it were not for the rain.
