Herbert Nehrlich - I Smile, My Love

Herbert Nehrlich - I Smile, My Love

Remember when we met, br we were a bit perplexed. br We searched the bay br and all its parks, some green br and others occupied br by Sunday crowds and dogs, br until we chose a spot br out of the sun, beneath a Eucalypt br where conversation would be free br and flow from mouth to ear. br br I sensed a huge connect, br dismissed it though at once, br smalltalk was what we had br and liverwurst on rye. br br You did not fancy the Dijon, br raised on pure butter br kept the spices low, br soon we would go br to join the crowds br so we could be br a bit more free - br you looked at me. br br I caught your scent, br eyes focused now br and fingers got to touch, br your laugh contagious and br there was a need br to spend the time br we both were sure. br br The afternoon could be br (if one were mean) br called awkward in a way, br was it the crowds, the sun br or just the newness br of a petal born to grow? br br Remember, sure you do, br the time when dusk arrived, br when we just rested in that place, br and fully clothed talked silly stuff br until the Camelot in spirit intervened. br br We spent those hours, br oh so precious br in the nude. br A million minutes br just a maiden and her dude, br we touched each molecule br caressed a willing skin br and kissed like teens br with sacred juices on our chin. br br If that beginning in that summer did not tell br I do not know, I like your presence br and your hands, br I love the way you look at me br and how you smell, br inside my mind there is a man who understands.
