Ann Beard - Two shades of green

The room has a carpet in two shades of green, br Its a place to be more, br much more, than is seen br Crystal splinters like glass light up hazel eyes. br Granny listens intently br to those seeming wise. br br The room has one window, a rural scene. br Seasons constantly change, br like a slow motion screen. br She lives on her own but companions are near br they wander through daily br they chase away fear. br br Her room has no door, not one she has noticed br just how they come in, br she has not the remotest br but people walk through at a leisurely pace br Everyone known to her br each precious face. br br She dreams of her home on the outskirts of town, br A bridegroom. a grass stain, br on her new bridal gown. br Now her feet rest content on two shades of green br Chair facing the window br the slow motion screen. br br copyright © Roan Feb.
