A garden walled in rose red brick. br Which traps the sun and holds the heat br our forbears did not miss a trick. br Few modern gardens can compete. br br Fruit trees espaliered to the walls br and cultivated carefully br The garden echoed to the calls br of children playing happily. br br And so it was for centuries. br But family fortunes rise and fall. br We must endure what fare decrees br we have no choice no choice at all. br br The garden fell into neglect br with weeds self seeding where they chose. br There’s little else you could expect. br As any good gardener knows. br br . br The garden now belongs to me. br I have the means I have the will. br I will restore it perfectly br I can employ the men with skill. br br To do all that needs to be done br a task that I will supervise. br It is too much for me alone br So I must listen to advice. br br I will create a paradise br concealed within the rose red walls. br That is well ordered and precise. br The man who pays the piper calls br br the tune.I can afford to pay br and what I seek is harmony. br A formal garden which today br is something of a rarity. br br A cherished dream I can make true br Restore it as it used to be. br It’s something which I have to do. br In my ancestors memory. br br My great grand father twice removed br created it originally br I am convinced it was well loved br by him and all his family. br br This garden will be loved again br when restoration is complete. br My work will not have been in vain br I complement I don’t compete. br br I followed carefully the plan br of how grandfather laid it out. br A monument to the old man br He would approve I have no doubt.. br br 28-Feb-09 br http: blog.myspace.compoeticpiersbr br ivor or ivor.
