[I wrote this poem in response to Robert Frost's 'Fire and Ice'] br br I was told that the cause for our end br (In an inevitable cosmic amend) br Is fire and ice. br Now wouldn’t that be nice? br br What fertile dreams can some plot br And harvest wars, and set the rot br Some have died many a times br While some, maybe, or sometimes. br br The curious means to our end br Can only make me pretend br That all’s well when it’s not br I remember now what I forgot. br br That while some live their dreams br Some practice being Supreme br Is the cause to live the heaven on earth, br Your mantra and devilish mirth? br br Does it matter if its fire and ice br Even if they do suffice? br But it matters how you’ve led your life br Though you may live once or twice. br br br Copyright © SC br 03rd April 2009 br Mumbai.
