Linda Winchell - 'Cell Phone Bill'

Linda Winchell - 'Cell Phone Bill'

She sits in her local coffee house cafe br Pining over an overdue cell phone bill. br She has seemed to have reached her limit br With her boyfriends unpaid portion still. br br She calls to her cells provider br While high pitched voice and pacing the cafe floor. br What is this poor girl to do? br She can't seem to take it anymore. br br Her pants bottoms ragged br The shoes on her feet are barely there. br With her hair tucked neatly under a colorful baseball cap br She haggles on the phone br I can't take this anymore! br And I wish everyone br Would just leave me the heck alone! br br A lady overhears her plight br She reaches slowly down into her purse. br She hands some money over to her br As if it had been pre-rehearsed. br br 'I couldn't help but overhear br The troubles that you have. br I see you're upset my dear child br And looking a wee bit sad.' br br With that the lady slips away br Not saying another word. br She just wanted to show the girl br That someone cared br About the problems that were overheard.
