Sandra Martyres - A celebration gone wrong...

A trendy new restaurant br In a chic part of the city br The family was celebrating br The arrival of their new puppy br “Dogs are not allowed” br Read the restaurant Notice Board br So the puppy had to be despatched br Reluctantly of course br Back home to his new kennel br Some of the evening’s pleasure br Was definitely lost br The children were not happy br How could they celebrate br Without their new pet dog br That triggered a family debate br Should they go ahead and sup br Or return home to be with the pup br After much discussion br They decided to set aside thoughts br Of a whining puppy and have dinner br Menus changed hands br Animated discussions ensued br About the choice of some delectable food br In the midst of the ordering br They heard an explosion br All jumped up in the confusion br Only to see two gun totting youths enter br It was perhaps they who’d fired the shots br “Hands up everyone” they screamed br In a petrified voice little Johnny said br “Thank God the puppy is not around… br He has no hands to put up…” br That was the last time they heard his voice br A stray bullet from the terrorist’s gun br Just hit him and he was down br His Dad bent down to pick him up br But again he could not br This time the terrorist’s gun br Was carefully trained at him br And then he too caved in… br The other guests watched helplessly br While the terrorists pumped bullets relentlessly br Soon there was no one left to tell the tale br The gun totting youths hurried away br Before the cops could block their way br Another case of mindless carnage br Life and property destroyed br There were only unanswered questions br On everyone’s mind br Why did they do it to innocent people? br And what did they hope to find?br br Sandra Martyresbr br
