Putholi Arumugham T - AS I GREW UP

Putholi Arumugham T - AS I GREW UP

When I was a kid br I used to sit in our garage br reading my fairytales alone br and look around for those br one eyed Cyclopes, gigantic spiders br Ship wrecking octopus and br witches with evil spells and br long blood soaked nails br and what if they sneak in. br They may throw me in dungeon br with hackles for my arms and legs. br They can even burn me and feast br on my heart or pluck away br my eyes and make me blind. br There is no escape from br their web till they wrap me up br with their saliva and swallow. br I shall be left to have a slow death br oh those merciless monsters br But in those moments br always there came a Fairyqueen br or a Mermaid or a Goddess of forests br on her silver unicorn. br They took me from there br to a fairly land or coral palaces br or a castle in the Kingdom of Mapplewoods. br We lived hapily ever after. br br But as i grew up br those who put me in dark prison br to eternity did not have br blood dripping nails, but with br lovely nail polishes. br They were not one eyed, br But with two lovely eyes br that can even mesmerise a stone. br Their lovely lips ate away br my heart even when im alive. br Their webs were weaved from a br delicate material, they called love. br They mummified me with their br sweet words soaked in honey, br but made from venom. br Then they made me a zombie for life. br They were not like monsters I read. br They were not witches, br They were all fairy queens, br They were are all mermaids.
