JAMES T. ADAIR - Every Pot Has A Lid

JAMES T. ADAIR - Every Pot Has A Lid

After all of life's baits and switches br I dream of love and not of riches br one heart loyal and true br boundless love and softness too br br So tired of life's endless race br I imagine her warm and friendly face br and the solitude of resting in a place br in her company and in her grace br br Her soft fingers entwined gently with mine br like a rooted and soothing vine br I imagine being so entwined br soft whispers gentle and never unkind br br I think there would be no greater bliss br than the reassurance of her gentle kiss br And then my heart might truely mend br and love for real and not pretend br br Such thoughts sometimes feel so real br and to God I pray and appeal br To find a way in this thankless maze br A miracle in my later days br br A man longs to be known for what's within br and not for what he wears or where he's been br And if he lets on that he is broken br His heart only knows what is not spoken br br My grandmother said 'every pot has a lid' br she didn't think I heard but I did br I recalled the innocence of that thought br which just brought a tear where there was not br br br 2008 © James T.
