Herbert Nehrlich - Awakening (An Exchange)

Herbert Nehrlich - Awakening (An Exchange)

R writes: br br The morning sun arises br bringing light into my soul br chasing shadows from the room br where my thighs are clasped around you br as the vine will clasp the branch, br for strength, and for the climbing, br the striving and the reaching br for that final burst of light. br br M answers: br br I am quite still just for a brief, br delicious moment. Like a thief br I borrow time as to prolong br the promise of a play, br a sonnet from Shakespearean days, br where words can climb br only to tumble from the mount, br and catch a limb to break the fall br and wait for soft, chantilly hands br to bathe them in the nectar's creek br where syllables are sent to sing br and punctuation must be wrong. br A golden ray reflects the love br and like a phoenix rises high br until it reaches us to bring br that final burst, a world of light br a million glow worms have arrived br amphibious stars that ride the crest br as hands are clasped and limbs hold tight. br One finds strong vines where sunrays surge br and kindred rivers flow to merge.
