Cathy Jackson - Christmas Challenged

Cathy Jackson - Christmas Challenged

Tis the season, so they say br That all should be merry and gay br Carolers sing ‘May your days be bright’ br With trees in the windows br And glittering light br br Church cantatas, and Christmas plays br There’s only 5 more shopping days br Cable TV with the ‘All Christmas Station’ br Plays ‘It’s a wonderful life’, br And ‘Christmas Vacation’ br br Holiday parties, and Christmas Cheer br ‘Out looking In’ year after year br The stores all cry out, ‘only 3 days more’ br Come shop til you drop br We’re not shutting our doors br br And here I stand, again like last year br Heart beating fast, frozen with fear br My Mind's all a whirl, unable to think br The crowd pushes in br I’m just on the brink br br And then I see it, alone on a shelf br Pushed to the back, a lot like myself br It bades me ‘come over’, how can I resist br And the crowd disappears br As I open my fist br br My fingers reach out and caress the small toy br My eyes bedazzled, heart filled with joy br I take the toy home, and wrap it up sweetly br For one that I love, br Will love it completely.
