A love poem striking br Between deepest sleep br And seeing off daughter and wife br For the normal commerce of the day br Interrupts the safe conventions br Demands fear and the severity br Of a Puritan self governance. br br I can not help wondering br Was it God or Devil then br That arranged our chance meeting br There being no communication between our worlds? br Having seen you more than once before br Your eyes at last were seen br With wonder force electric enough to almost br Rouse old bones from deepest sleep br To celebrate that time.
