I have heard Jesus say, “A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” John 13: 34 But, let me add this: br br At the heart of everlasting love is the commitment to celebrate being together. Not only the day you met and the days marking your wedding anniversary, but each moment which symbolizes your accomplishments and triumph over tribulations. Everyday, compliment one another and offer appreciation for how wonderful it is to live together. Keep your passion for one another burning. It is the grease that oils the wheels of love. In every relationship, love and understanding are inseparable; they lead to openness and sincerity with one another. They are the fiber that makes your spousepartner your best friend. It is the bond that permits you to feel free with one another in deep ways that transcend being mere acquaintances. br To be spousespartners is to be opened to the hidden streams of feeling and intuition in each other, the unconscious shifting that take us into areas of our individual and joined being that are beyond our human imagination. When we are really in love with our spousespartners we see the soul not as a container but as a beacon, sometimes intense, sometimes a whisper, sometimes a demand, sometimes a tease, animated by a desire to bring us even closer by pointing out the way as well as what is in the way. Through this we live our piece of heaven on earth.
