Carol Rivers - My Guardian Angel

Carol Rivers - My Guardian Angel

MY GUARDIAN ANGEL br br br One night I had a dream, it left a tale to tell, br I dreamed I saw an angel, poor thing, he wasn’t well. br His body was bruised and battered. br His wings were ripped and torn. br I saw that he could hardly walk, br He looked too tired and worn. br br I walked right up and asked him, br “How can this be? ” br He turned and paused a bit, br These words he spoke to me… br br “I’m your Guardian Angel! br A great task as you can see. br You have run amuck all year, br Look what you’ve done to me. br br These bruises are from shielding you, br In times of dire ill. br The drugs you used so dangerously, br I paid for you that bill. br br My wings, you say are ripped and torn, br A noble badge I bear. br They’ve flown for you so many times, br For evils unaware. br br Each mark has its own story, br Of deadly wounds destroyed. br You made me wish more times than once, br That I was unemployed. br br If only you could make it, br Standing on your own. br But please, don’t fret or worry, br You are never alone. br br I’m here to watch over you, br Until my powers fail, br You’ve made it much easier, br Sitting there in jail.” br br I could hardly believe what I had seen, br Let alone how much he cared, br I wept on his broad shoulders and left him in despair. br When I looked in the mirror the next morning, br I pondered why, I should try.
