Ann Beard - Silence in the Cemetery.

Ann Beard - Silence in the Cemetery.

There is silence br br in the cemetery, half a world away, br br Forgotten graves lay unattended. br br Darkness gorges on decay. br br Here and now meets then. br br To stand beside an unmarked space br br No memory as death intended br br being-ness without a trace. br br The keeper has the records hand br br inscribed in antique scrawl br br in a little house, with iron gates br br He guards the names of all br br One resting place a legacy, of br br sudden shock of stolen breath br br Beneath the ground stirs memory, br br of long ago, an early death. br br One day someone may ask the way br br to claim the plot – erect a marker. br br Shout, that they knew of that man, br br To all who may come after. br br br br Copyright ©Roan Mar.
