Deborah Cromer - 3rd Street

So much pain and suffering, for one so young br Often melodies of sorrow, you silently sung br Your hands and feet were endlessly so cold br You told me in closeness, you would never grow old br A voice so deep, with beautiful words to speak br Too often, I saw tears run down your cheek br I saw the sadness through years grow stronger br Happiness became an act, longer and longer br Such gentle strength, for one so afraid br Many nights on your chest, my head I laid br I could feel your heart beat and hear your breath br This man I loved dearly, headed for early death br There was nothing anybody could do, to stop you br This was a losing battle, and you really knew br I know you are happy now, and have no fear br No more worries and depression, year after year br The cold, the hunger, the lonliness and pain br Shall all be washed clean, from within the rainbr br Deborah Cromerbr br
